Win Free Tickets to Pachanga Fest from Austin Vida

The big event is this Saturday at Fiesta Gardens. Pachanga is the it Latino event that happens in this Latin Music Month here in Austin. Pachanga is the only festival to feature Latino musicians of all music genres, where as in other cities they stick to one genre, typically just salsa, Tejano or Latin Alternative. With Pachanga Fest, you can hear great modern rock, punk, cumbia, Tejano, salsa and indie. It is a truly unique and memorable experience that everyone can enjoy.

That being said, my friends and I at Austin Vida are giving away tickets this week through our Austin Vida Facebook fan page. How dope would it be to go to one of the best music festivals in the country for free? It could happen. All you have to do is add or "like" Austin Vida on Facebook to get more details and be eligible to win. Add Austin Vida on Facebook here:

Texas Tornados live at Waterloo Records

So I spent all day yesterday out and about, mainly with The Texas Tornados. There was a press confernece and a Waterloo Records in-store in celebration of their latest release, Esta Bueno!. Having grown up listening to them, thanks to my parents, it was surreal to see them live and in person for the first time. Unfortunately two members have passed, but meeting Augie Meyers and Flaco Jimenez was like checking off something on my bucket list. Unreal I tell you.

The best part was getting to share the experience with my good friends and Austin Vida crew. Be sure to look out for a cool piece on the Texas Tornados coming soon. We may even give something away on Austin Vida, so be sure to check back for that also. If you like the video I posted above, I have more on my YouTube channel from their Waterloo in-store. Thanks Waterloo Records and long live The Texas Tornados.

New Pinata Protest Interview on Austin Vida

This month's cover feature on Austin Vida is none other than San Antonio's own, Pinata Protest. I have known these dudes for while now and I see them making some real headway in the Austin Scene. They have an original style that marries Flaco Jimenz and The Sex Pistols. I know that sounds strange in print, but check them out and listen for yourself. They way I always describe them to friends is by using a Dropkick Murphys comparison. What the Dropkick Murphys do for the Irish and punk rock, Pinata Protest does for the Mexicans and punk rock. As the first person to bring Pinata Protest to Austin, I couldn't be happier to share this interview wth you all.
