Moenia to play Houston and Dallas in April

The legendary and iconic Mexican rock stars, Moenia, will be playing two shows in Texas in April. While I am bummed that they don't have a show in Austin, I am willing to travel to see them. I have been a fan for about ten years and am super stoked at this opportunity to see them live.

Moenia is comprised of members Jorge Soto (keyboards), Alejandro Ortega (keyboards) and Alfonso Pichardo (vocals). They are known for making darker electronic pop music popular to the mainstream in Mexico. They sound heavily influenced by Depeche Mode, New Order and even a little like The Cure just to give you an idea of what they sound like. They are touring to suport their latest album and dvd, En Electrico. As good as it may be, the best anything to own from Moenia is Solo Para Los Fanaticos. It's a compilation remix album I've owned since my club days in San Antonio. That was way early in the last decade by the way.

After playing Yuju Fest in South Padre this past weekend, Moenia announced two shows in Texas. The first will be at Arena Theater in Houston on April 23rd. The show in Dallas is at Band Shell Amphitheater on April 25th.

Even if you don't speak Spanish or have never heard of Moenia, I encourage you to take a listen to this live video of Moenia performing "Contigo Estare" or "I will be with you". It's a beautiful rendition of the song. Check it out and discover Moenia.
