(5/24) Ximena Sariñana at Stubb's
My dear Ximena Sariñana, Mexico's best pop star and talented actress, is finally coming to Austin. I was super excited when I got the news this week. She will be performing at Stubb's indoor on May 24th. Latino or not, you need to get familiar with Ximena Sariñana. Trust me.
Ximena Sariñana has one of the most beautiful voices in music, any genre. Her music is very pop meets jazzy adult contemporary en Español. She is one of the few artists that music fans of all ages enjoy and not feel "uncool" about listening to. Her debut album from 2008, Mediocre, received four stars from Rolling Stone Magazine and earned her Latin Grammy nominations. She's a huge star in Mexico and music fans of all ages and races here in the States will love her once they hear her sing. Chances are, if you're a fan of Jason Mraz, you've already seen this music video the Spanish version of his single "Lucky" entitled "Suerte". In case you haven't seen the video or heard the song, check it out:
That was her first major step into winning over American audiences, but it does not end there. She made it on the Twilight New Moon Soundtrack with her single "Frente El Mar". She was on the cover of Venus Zine's Summer 2009 issue and will be on the bill for couple of this year's Lilith Fair. She very well could be the one artist to break into the American Top 40 market since the likes of Shakira or Ricky Martin.
Sariñana is touring to support an upcoming album, which I will talk more about later. I'm sure she will be performing new material at her show at Stubb's on May 24th. It will be part of a big three days with Pachanga Fest happening on the 21st and 22nd of May.
Finally, I wanted to let you all know that my crew and I at Austin Vida will be giving away two pairs of tickets to see Ximena Sariñana at Stubb's. We will be giving them away through our Austin Vida Facebook fan page. If you aren't an Austin Vida fan already, add Austin Vida here:
