Ocote Soul Sounds every Tuesday in April at Lambert's
What is up with Tuesday nights being better for live music than most other weekdays? Here in Austin it seems Tuesdays may be the new Friday. April proves this with the announcement of Ocote Soul Sounds Tuesday night residency at Lambert's.
Ocote Soul Sounds is the coming together of two musical masterminds, Adrian Quesada and Martin Perna. These guys are part of other great bands, including Antibalas and Brownout, and still find time to make Ocote Soul Sounds happen. They are this amazing Latin, soul, funk collective fusion of sorts that just smashes. Damn do they smash! I first saw them at last year's Pachanga Festival and I've been a huge fan ever since.
What's cool about their Lambert's residency this month is their line up of guest DJs spinning before they go on. Here is the DJ schedule:
April 6 – Mexican Dubwiser
April 13 – DJ Mel
April 20 – DJ Chorizo Funk
April 27 – DJ Chicken George
Lambert's is located at 401 West 2nd Street in downtown Austin. They have a pretty good sound system and decent BBQ. It's not my usually hang out by any means, but I've seen a few shows. Here is what Ocote Soul Sounds sounds like with a full band. Check out this Austin Vida video for "Revolt of The Cockroach People"
To win free tickets to see Ocote Soul Sounds at Lambert's, add Austin Vida on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/austinvida) as we will be giving a pair of tickets away each Tuesday in April.
