(2/4) Lissie to perform on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon

My favorite indie-folk singer if I ever had one is Lissie. I have followed her on YouTube ever since I saw one of her covers waaayyy back in 2009. Not only is her original music fantastic, her covers are some of the best and most diverse around. She covers everyone to Lady Gaga to Kid Kudi and everyone in between. Her latest album Catching A Tiger is out on Fat Possum Records now.

This Friday, Feb. 4, Lissie will perform "When I'm Alone" on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. If you are not at Fashion Freakout or Stubb's this Friday, you should check her out. If you won't be home, set your DVR. It airs on NBC, 12:35am ET/11:35pm CT. Check her out. Lissie is awesome!

New album from Lissie out on Fat Possum in August

Finally some news on a full length album from my darling Lissie. I've been in absolute love with her voice and music ever since I first heard her. I saw her live during SXSW this year and have been eagerly awaiting for her album, Catching A Tiger, to be released. The album comes out on indie tastemaker label, Fat Possum, and will be released on August 17th. For those of you in Austin, you will want to be sure and catch Lissie at this year's ACL Fest in October. Here is the track listing for Catching A Tiger:

1. Record Collector
2. When I'm Alone
3. In Sleep
4. Bully
5. Little Lovin'
6. Stranger
7. Loosen The Knot
8. Cuckoo
9. Everywhere I Go
10. Worried About
11. Look Away
12. Oh Mississippi

You can pre-order the album on Fat Possum's website here: Fat Possum store

Lissie: Best "Bad Romance" cover

Eat your heart out Lady Gaga. As much as I secretly go "GaGa" about "Bad Romance", I love Lissie's version posted above. It is not a happy pop song when you sit and listen to the actual lyrics. I don't think the bottle service club goers of the world care when they hear it at the velvet rope clubs, but it does have a darkness to it. Lissie absolutely knocked it out of the park with this one. Here I thought "Wedding Bells" was her best cover.

Mini-cam fun: Lissie at Mess With Texas party 2010

A lot of people have been asking me this week what I caught either at SXSW last week or what parties I went to. Understand that SXSW week is work, not so much play, for an editor. With the launch of a new publication and keeping Austin Vida running smooth, I was hard up for free time to say the least.

However, I did make it out to some cool stuff. I loved the Mess With Texas party that took place on March 19th and 20th. I caught Jeff The Brotherhood, Lissie and Frightened Rabbit. I dug them all, but Frightened Rabbit were amazing. You probably knew that already though. I also caught a little bit of Mariachi El Bronx and Yacht as well.

Well in case you didn't know that indie folk darling, Lissie, is pretty good. Her music is nothing epic or over the top, and I admit I have to be in the mood to enjoy it. Still, she's one of the best in the genre. Lissie's voice is that of an angel. She's also very down to earth and a good guitar player. I enjoy her Hank Williams cover of "Wedding Bells". Hopefully you've clicked on the video above and are listening to it now. I have more Lissie videos on my YouTube channel if you want to check them out.
